ISSFAL Announces CME Course on Lipids and Cardiovascular Disease

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to introduce a new initiative from ISSFAL in conjunction with AKH Inc., Advancing Knowledge in Healthcare.

In the USA, and other parts of the world, a system of Continuing Medical Education (or Continuing Professional Development) operates. Increasingly, qualifying courses/instruction are available as on line training modules.

The often excellent presentations at our biennial Congresses make ideal training courses for a variety of disciplines and we have teamed up with AKH Inc, one of the leading CME providers to produce our first module‘Lipids and Cardiovascular Disease’ featuring presentations from our Stockholm 2014 meeting.

The course, registration costs for which are only US$25, comprises four presentations:

Mediterranean Diet, Carotid Plaque Progression ALA, Long Chain N-3 and All Cause Mortality
?    Aleix Sala-Vila, PhD, Hospital Clinic, IDIBAPS- Endocrinology & Nutrition (Spain)
?    Dr. Sala-Vila discloses no significant financial relationships with pharmaceutical or medical product manufacturers.

Role of Milk Fat Globule Membrane (MFGM) for Modulating Atherogenic Plasma Lipoproteins in Humans: A randomized Trial
    ?    Fredrik Rosqvist, MSc  (Sweden)
?    Mr. Rosqvist discloses no significant financial relationships with pharmaceutical or medical product manufacturers.

Docosahexaenoic Fatty Acid Favorably Alters Inflammatory Pathways and Macrophage Polarization in the Aorta of Atherosclerotic Mice
    ?    Cécile Gladine, PhD (France)
?    Dr. Gladine discloses no significant financial relationships with pharmaceutical or medical product manufacturers.

The Omega-3 Index in Heart Failure Patents: Associations with Clinical Data, Comorbidities and Prognosis
?    Clemens von Schacky, MD (Germany)
?    Dr. von Schacky has disclosed the following relevant financial relationships: Stock - Omegametrix GmbH.

In addition to those seeking CME credits, we believe access to these presentations will also be of interest to anyone working in the field that either couldn’t attend the Stockholm meeting or could not attend these specific sessions.

We very much see this initiative as a trial for future ISSFAL Conferences and if successful we would hope to expand the number and scope of courses offered.
